La Casa de las Lenguas

The University of Oviedo is a partner center for the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System) managed jointly by the British Council and the University of Cambridge.

IELTS certification has a recognition by universities and other institutions of higher education level in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Ireland and various European countries. It has an official recognition for immigration requirements in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

There are two models of IELTS tests:

• Academic Module: it assesses whether the candidate is qualified for university studies in English, graduate and postgraduate.
• General Training Module: it assesses competence in English language skills necessary in social contexts and professional environments.

Next calls: 2019

There will be three exam calls taking place in Oviedo in 2019: in FEBRUARY (the 14th, the whole day), in JUNE (the 13th, the whole day) and in  OCTOBER (the 10th, the whole day). Some oral interviews of the Speaking part might take place either the afternoon/evening or the morning before or after the days mentioned (a detailed calendar will be announced in due time).

Exam calls in 2020

The British Council has already confirmed three exam calls in Oviedo in 2020: in MARCH (the 5th, the whole day), in JUNE (the 18th, the whole day) and in  OCTOBER (the 15th, the whole day). Some oral interviews of the Speaking part might take place either the afternoon/evening or the morning before or after the days mentioned (the British Council will inform candidates individually on this matter in due time).

IMPORTANT: All exam calls that take place in La Casa de las Lenguas are only for the Academic module.

In order to prepare for the IELST test, a 10-hours free online course, open to those interested in the University of Cambridge and the British Council certification system, is now available.
